The Foreign Language School of the Diplomatic Academy provides various English language programmes to both schoolchildren aged from 12 years old and adults. All candidates are divided into groups according to placement test results and in accordance with their age group (schoolchildren, adults) and their basic levels (Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced).
The syllabus offered by the Foreign Language School is based on the requirements of the Council of Europe.

English for General Purposes (EGP);
Business English (BE);
English for Special Purposes (ESP);
Preparation for International Exams:
- FCE;
- CAE;
- IELTS;
- BEC Vantage;

- TOEFL.
English for General Purposes
Traditional Academic Course
The course is designed for a wide range of people wishing to learn English at Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate levels. A traditional academic 2 or 3-year course for pupils in their 7-10 years of secondary school, a year course for pupils in their 10-11 years of specialized English schools preparing them for entering Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Moscow Linguistic University and other humanitarian universities.
One-year (150 academic hours) and two-year (300 academic hours) courses for University students and adults.
The syllabus envisages the development of language competence and formation of the four basic communicative skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading.
Language Improvement Courses

A year language improvement course (150-200 academic hours) is designed for people speaking English at least at Low Intermediate Level.
The syllabus is aimed at vocabulary and grammar extension, developing speech habits in various situations of everyday communication, selection of adequate conversational formulas and acquiring positive flexible speech behaviour.

The course is designed for those who would like to gain, in the shortest possible time, the basic skills of speaking, writing, listening and reading, preference given to the development of communicative skills.
The offered modules are:
100 academic hours – twice a week, 3-4 academic hours each class;
150-200 academic hours – three times a week, 4 academic hours each class;
The length of the course at each level is three months.
Students can choose between British and American varieties of the English language.
Enrolment for a course and classes are held throughout the year.
Summer intensive groups, held in June-August, enjoy special popularity. The module offered for these groups is 2-3 times a week, 4 academic hours each class.
The Foreign Language School provides highly qualified teachers at all levels, including teachers from Great Britain and the USA working at Intermediate and Advanced levels.
